16 km west of Zaragoza is located Zaragoza Airport (IATA: ZAZ, ICAO: LEZG), which serves as a civilian airport and the base of the Spanish Air Force. The airport is used by NASA as an emergency landing site for space shuttles in the TAL (Transoceanic Abort Landing).
